Rudy Sudy’s career in Australiana landscape painting spans 50 years, with more than 8000 of his unique artworks adorning the walls of homes and businesses all around Australia. Migrating from Austria in 1970, he quickly developed a love for the Australian landscape, and a passion for reproducing what he visualised on canvas. A spirited adventurer, the desire to experience his muse first-hand led him to travel extensively and consistently throughout this time.
From the outback and top end to the forests of the south-west, the Murray–Darling basin and the Alpine region to the tropical rainforests of Daintree, the western stock routes to the Great Barrier Reef and islands, he captured the vivid scenery and special remote places he’d visited with a brush and paint. He would often set up exhibitions in towns and cities painting live for the public, selling his artwork and painting murals while meeting all the interesting local characters.
