This section will be a work in progress, and with valued assistance from family and friends over time, and media archives, I hope to eventually compile a full biography of the extraordinary life and travels of Rudolf (Rudy) Sudy.
This page will also serve as an index for articles as they are published, including tributes and testimonials.
Townsville Bulletin, June 1988: “Rudy Sudy and his son Robert” arriving home to Townsville after spending a whole month in the saddle. They first rode 450km up to Malanda, to join 200 other riders reenacting a pack horse mail run from the ghost town of Maytown in the Palmer River Goldfields. After setting up a makeshift post office, pack horses carried the mail bags another 400km to Cooktown, arriving 10 days later for the Bicentennial Festival, and after the reenactment, they rode the 450km back to Townsville, clocking up over 1300km.
